Give, and you will receive.
Your gift will return to you in full – – pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap.
The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.          -Luke 6:38

ELCA Missionary Sponsorship: Pastors Rachel Eskesen and Zach Courter

St. Paul’s has entered into a covenant to help sponsor the ministry of Pastors Rachel Eskesen and Zach Courter in Hungary and Serbia.  They serve as directors of the ELCA’s Young Adults in Global Mission program in Central Europe and as pastors of an English speaking congregation in Budapest.

Below are some excerpts from emails from Rachel, welcoming us in to partnership with them.

Greetings Pr. Robb and our friends at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waterloo!

Thank you so much for your support of our work here in Central Europe.

Our service alongside our partners here in Central Europe is possible because of support from congregations.

As you may already know, my husband, Zach, and I are ELCA pastors and missionaries here in Central Europe. We are based out of Budapest, Hungary and serve with communities all over Hungary and Serbia through our work with the Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) Central Europe program. We also lead an English language congregation in Budapest that is a ministry of the Fasor Lutheran Church (a Hungarian language congregation.)

Each Autumn and Spring Zach and I (and now our little baby Dorothy) visit the Young Adults in Global Mission and our local colleagues with whom they serve. We’ve recently been on the road spending time with the YAGM all over Hungary and Serbia. We invite you in giving thanks for our YAGM 2019 cohort: Alexis, Zach, Adam serving in Serbia and Ali, Mary, Nathan, Kendra, and Maren serving in Hungary.

You can learn more about our ministry together through both the YAGM Central Europe facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/YAGMCentralEurope/ or on Instagram @YAGMCentralEurope

Friends at St. Paul’s, we are so excited to welcome you to accompany us in our journey as missionaries in Central Europe. We look forward to connecting through our
bi-monthly newsletter (next one to arrive by mid-November!)

Please let us know how we can keep your congregation in our prayers in the months to come! Blessings to you all this Autumn season.

God’s Peace,

Rachel, Zach & Dorothy

Update: September 2020

Greetings Friends, Supporters, and Siblings in Christ!

I write to you with greetings of health and wellness for you, your families, and communities. Here in Budapest, the summer season is beginning to fade, and we are looking forward to the cozy opportunities that fall can bring.

Of course these days offer a myriad of challenges as well. Within the pages of the newsletter, you can get a flavor of how our lives and ministry are taking shape in this season new season.

Finally, in the past, some of you have asked about the best way to make personal donations to our ministry. By following this link, you’ll be redirected to our new fundraising page.

May God’s reassuring presence never be far from you these days.

Blessings,

Pastor Zach
